Yes it is.
Limited but yes
Had breakfast with the family and it was excellent. The bacon was crispy, the orange juice was freshly squeezed, and the fruit was fresh. The crepes were delicious, as well as the pancakes. Service was friendly and helpful. Cash only, but ATM in front. Bonus is that Seinfeld was here with Jimmy Fallon a few years ago.
The food was delish and there were flies and attitude. I ❤ it!
Pancakes good except for hostess or whoever at door. Nasty and sarcastic.
Food was standard breakfast fare. Most of the staff was Rude. Our waitress was sweet and attentive BUT another waitress told us another table was waiting and took our high chair from away from the table while my husband was tending to our son, and I was drinking my coffee. There were many other seating options available and no one waiting, and others “done” eating. She rushed for us no reason. And then told us “you get what you give.” I asked you’re going to speak like that to customers who just paid? Our only responsibility as patrons is paying for our meal. What a poor way to start a Saturday.
Another joint I've been going to since a child. Everything is the same and I love it. Tip: Anthony's sux and that's why no one is waiting outside and bird has a nice ambiance but isn't the same.
Good food if you can tolerate the grumpy staff!
The potatoes pancakes are life changing!!! I was born a new man after I had them .... I will never be the same. Low key local spot with great food and variety.
I appreciated that John's has safety in mind! We witnessed the staff respectfully requeat that a group that wanted to come inside wear masks. The group refused and became belligerent, and the whole while the staff kept their cool! Cheers!! 6 stars! Great service and food!
Great place cozy and friendly. It does get crowded and usually there is a wait.
Great start for the day!!! 😉✌🙌💪👍👌
Unpretentious, solid breakfast and lunch spot. Very fast service. Solid menu with an array of choices that will satisfy the entire family. Prices are generally reasonable. Cash only. Good seating options with plenty of booths and counter service. Nice light filled room with a nautical theme.
My works oatmeal was wonderful and the coffee hit the spot. Definitely needs to do a clean down as did have flies by coffee corner.
The food is always good @ John's Pancake & Steak House
Service was good. Good food. Pancakes live up to the name. Good coffee too
Just left the rudest pancake house. We were there only one hour didn’t get a refill on coffee and when we asked for a second cup they wanted to give it to us in a to go cup, while we were STILL eating our breakfast. The manager /cashier told us we stayed too long as we were paying the check. The staff was nice but under a lot of pressure from this manger. Not going back-we’ve had better pancakes
DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. I came in with a small luggage in the morning, and they asked me to put my bag outside the building or not eat here. That was their first reaction. It was a small luggage and there were many ways to find the solution. But they said that I could either put my bag outside (seriously?) or go to other restaurants. IT WAS THE WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE I HAD IN MY WHOLE LIFE. ABSOLUTELY RIDICUOUS.
The dirty cooktop flavor came through to my pancakes—ever have a pancake that tasted like fish? Too aggressive a flavor for 8 am, IMO.
John’s Pancake house is hands down the best place for food in Montauk! I only wish they were open later for Brinner!
Great waffles! pancakes were good, too
Really great breakfast, charming and happy place!
Fab breakfast, my over medium eggs were cooked to perfection, great service and reasonably priced, wish we had a diner like this where we lived.
Worst place to go in Montauk, long wait for country cooked breakfast, drosophila melanogasters flying over sticky wooden tables! Rude Hostess-waitress,scolds customer for staying over an hour, yelling "Get out",can't order second glass of water,no refills for coffee, unworthy 18% tip over gratuities,Cursed business!
We visit at least once while in town. Cash only whole in the wall breakfast and lunch spot which surpasses ones expectations everytime. Tried & true favs like blueberry pancakes are a must as well as more modern menu items like nutella crepes. Be prepared to wait the later it gets in the morning and on the weekends, but they are a well oiled machine and will get your table asap. Just love it here.
I sent my friends to this place with my warmest recommendations. I visit this restaurant often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The dishes they serve are flavorable and the stuff is attentive and cooperative. Every time we eat in this place we have a splendid time. I recommend this place with pleasure.
Quick service in a nice cozy establishment. Breakfast was good but nothing amazing to write home about. Just your average pancake. Hash browns though were delicious and had lots of flavor!
Hostess yelled at me & my sister because we sat a counter for breakfast. She claimed there was a list but what she flashed us had all names crossed off & zero people sitting at counter. Even after we apologized she kept yelling we can't sit there. As the only poc in there, I did feel the continued yelling was really unnecessary. We left & had delicious pancakes across the street.
Great food, they got us the food very quickly. And the staff was very friendly.
Great, simple food. Hearty portions and strong coffee. Lovely relaxed vibe and great service. Highly recommend if you are visiting Montauk.
Worst breakfast experience ever! We sat down at the counter and they brought us coffee and orange juice (dirty cup, we asked for straws for the orange juice). The server was rude and no friendly at all. He took our order and 30 minutes passed and still no food. When we asked about the status of our breakfast, nobody knew and we decided to leave. We asked to the front door lady and when she checked the computer, the guy “that took our order at the beginning” just put the order in! Yes, 30 minutes later! The lady at the door started laughing about the guy's mistake. Totally disrespectful. We ended up leaving the place and having breakfast at Naturally Good, really nice environment and delicious food.
John’s Pancake House is amazing!!! Literally everything on the menu is delicious. Best pancakes I have ever had (but the key is to ask for the natural maple syrup). The only thing I would say is that calling this place a pancake house doesn’t really do it justice because as amazing as the breakfast food is their lunch food is somehow even better! For example, the hamburger is my favorite thing on the menu. I have been quarantining in Montauk for the past month and my daily order from John’s is the best part of my days here! 😊
John's Pancake house!! A popular staple and thankfully open in the off season. It's basically an old school diner but has several pancake specials. It's good food at fair prices. Nothing super exceptional but still a worthwhile spot for breakfast/lunch.Banana pancakes had bananas right in the flapjack. It was tasty even without syrup! My Judy Omelette was great (Sausage, tomato, avocado) and huge.
Amazing breakfast this chilly morning (3/5/17). Our server Trish was super friendly with an awesome smile. My eggs benedict was perfect and looked like it was prepared by a master chef. My fiancé said his western omelet with avocado was fantastic. Best to visit in Fall or almost Spring, before all of Manhattan spends their summer out here...
Had eggs with sausage patties, husband had pancakes with eggs. Both orders eggs were undercooked. Sausage was soso
The worst breakfast experience on New Years Day! The ogre at the register is the rudest person and should not be allowed to interact with people, I will never give them any more business and I encourage others to do the same.
Great food... they only accept cash. Have eaten here before an would definitely return
The best pancakes and the home fries are DELICIOUS.
Good food. Staff thinks their job is to bring you your food, absolutely nothing more. Super unfriendly. They all seem miserable and whine about the tourists, who are obviously most of the customers.
Very average. I ordered The challah French toast with fresh fruit on top after the waitress told me NOT to order the potato pancakes; was so dry I didn’t want to eat it . It was like they didn’t even dip it into the batter, just dry bread with fruit in top. The fruit was fresh bananas, strawberries and blueberries. My Canadian bacon was small and eh. My kids ordered the Nutella with fresh fruit crepes which they seemed to enjoy. My husband ordered an omelette which he seemed to like but he never complains. I tried his home fries and they were crispy but very bland.. no flavor. The coffee was pretty bad. If you’re looking for good coffee try Left Hand. Also it’s pretty pricey, we paid just under $100.00 for breakfast ! Cash only .
Really wanted to eat here ( I had heard some good things), but after being seated we were overcome by pesky flies. My kids freaked out and we got up and left. Went to Anthony’s across the street reluctantly (bad reviews) found the place cleaner (no flies), good air conditioning and the food was fine. Had an omelette, kids had chocolate pancakes. Not many breakfast options in Montauk but Anthony’s was good enough...
Cash Only & Seat yourself! Quick and friendly service. The food was on the table in less than five minutes and it was delicious. The coffee was very good and they provide free refills. Gets pretty packed by 8 AM.
This place was pretty ok, your typical diner style with decent pancakes and sausages. The corned beef hash was pretty goodThere were some flies hanging out around my pancakes which kinda sucked
You won't like this place if you act like a summer person. Get the homefries well done, and some pancakes.
Always a great early morning pre fishing stop.
Definitely not the pancake breakfast I expected. $9 for three pancakes and no sides. Pancakes tasted like jiffy cornbread. Not terrible, but not buttermilk cakes like grandma used to make.
Combative lady at 'Perch', front door. Unfriendly, " no stroller", annoyed our Family, first visit, sat 4 children round table ~ 2 sets parent and myself, former School Dist. #23, Grandmother of 11, at banquette beside. A simple query, my Daughter, " why can't cousins sit here - us right next?" met with gruff derogatory insult and " no choice, sit with your kids".If our lovely, apologetic (everyone at John's breakfast looking at wild woman) young lady waitress wasn't so patient and professional we would have crossed the street. Staff smiling, service and good Pancakes appreciated. We then headed to Montauk Lighthouse, climbed to the Top and had Fun.
Me "2 please, thanks."Lady at the front "any table in the middle or the counter."Me "I think there are already people at those tables"Lady at the front "any table in the middle or the counter."Followed by a 60 dollar breakfast for two that was the exact same thing as every diner egg breakfast that is literally half the price. Not a fan. Do not recommend. Will not return.
